I am a 21 year old, third year university student. I am currently doing distant ed, where all my courses are online and at my own time. My academic focus is in English literature and writing, First Nations Education and Leadership, and General Philosophy – both ancient and contemporary thinkers. I am a western Canadian who was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. My dream is to eventually obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree, and then enrol in a Faculty of Education somewhere in Canada. My goal is to become an Elementary school teacher.
I have extensive experience working with children. I have been a baby-sitter, I have volunteered with a Math professor at UNB in elementary classrooms in and around Fredericton. Further, when I moved to New Brunswick in the Fall of 2016, I applied for and secured a job at a Children’s Clothing Store called Justice. I spent nine months working at the store before returning to Calgary to spend time with my parents at their home in 2017. At Justice, I was eventually promoted to a management position. I was hired for the Summer Student position at Community Futures Greenstone in Flin Flon, Manitoba for two consecutive years now. The first one dating from May 2018 to August 2018, and the last one beginning on May 21st, 2019. The contract was a 13 week term, until I got asked to extend my employment until August 24th, 2019 due to my work ethics and positive attitude. My direct duties focused on developing the annual summer camp. During the weeks the camp was not in session, I worked independently in my own office. My job duties included answering a 10-line phone and ensuring the customer were to be directed to the right person/department. I excel with computer software, and have used Microsoft numerous times. I am a fast typer, and I have incredibly strong computer skills. I am an avid reader, and enjoy spending my time outdoors.
