Hello! I'm Amber. I'm a compassionate and experienced caregiver with a diverse background in caring for children of all ages. I am passionate about early childhood education and have been accepted into the University of Calgary's teaching program for early childhood education, in hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher. I am excited for this opportunity to continue working with children and making a positive impact on their lives. My journey in childcare began at the age of 12 when I completed a babysitting course and started caring for neighbourhood children, ranging from infants to middle schoolers. Throughout my high school years, I continued to babysit alongside my studies. During my university years, I furthered my childcare experience by taking on a nanny role for an 11-month-old child. This experience allowed me to develop a wide range of skills, including feeding, entertaining, and managing household tasks for the family. After graduating from university in June 2022, I accepted the position of English Language Teacher in Minamiawaji, Japan. In this role, I had the opportunity to instruct English classes for elementary school students ranging from grades 1 through 6. Not only did I love teaching lessons, but also enjoyed tutoring students who needed extra support and engaging in fun activities outside of class. I'm 26 years old and happily married, which has instilled in me a sense of responsibility, patience, and empathy. I place a high degree of value on creating nurturing environments and maintaining positive relationships. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing my guitar, exploring nature, and engaging in creative activities like drawing and crochet. My diverse experiences, coupled with my dedication to childcare and continuous learning, make me a valuable asset to any family seeking a compassionate and skilled caregiver.

I have a well-rounded background caring for children of multiple age groups. From the time I was 12 years old and could take the babysitting course, I babysat various neighbourhood children ranging from infant to middle-school aged. Throughout my high school years I continued babysitting in addition to my studies. When I was 19 and in university, I nannied an 11-month old child, in which my duties included feeding time, entertainment (such as walks and games), nap time, as well as some light housework for the family. After graduating from Thompson Rivers University in June 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, I accepted the role of an English Language Teacher in Minamiawaji, Japan. In this role, I was responsible for the English class instruction of 3 elementary school—grades 1 through 6—with classes as small as 12 children, and as large as 38. Not only was I responsible for daily lesson instruction and lesson planning, but I also mentored students requiring extra help, and participated in games and fun activities with students outside of class time. Since returning to Canada, I have been accepted into the University of Calgary's teaching program for early childhood education, and am eager to continue developing my career working with children.
