My name is Uche . I am an African woman, from a family of six children. I am the 5th child. I love to read, write, and explore my environment. I love children and has spent so many years taking care of them personally and professionally. I have 4 sisters and am the youngest, as a result, I helped all my sisters to babysit their children at one point or the other. I have taken care of infants, babies, children, toddlers, and teens. I am very observant, which helps me to recognize the needs of the children and take care of it as soon as possible. My patient nature helps me tolerate and accommodate the children’s excesses because that’s what makes them children. I am also calm and friendly, which made me much closer to the children than their parents. They trusted me and grew healthier and happier under my care.
I love to teach, so I help children with their assignments, school work and also to learn new skills. I engage them in age appropriate skill’s depending on their interests and hobbies for recreational purposes.
Also, I am a trained clinical psychologist in my home country and I worked with children both in and out of the hospital. I worked with children with special need, neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health challenges. I managed children with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Down syndrome, conduct disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders etc. I also counselled their parents and teachers on the best techniques to help the children at home and in school.
I have First Aid and CPR training, psychological first aid training and currently concluding my personal support worker training, that has childcare as one of its sub fields.
I enjoy taking care of children, because they inspire me with their honest and exploring mind.
