I have always been around children. When I was still in elementary school, I had twin half siblings from my dad as well as my first niece. My siblings and I are far apart in age which is why I was an aunt so young and now have 10 niece’s and nephews, who I love to pieces and am so blessed to have then in my life. My husband and I were good friends in high-school and were in the same class and things developed into a deeper relationship after high-school, the rest was history and we’ve been together for 8 years married for 3.
During the hours I’m not working, I like to spend quality time with my husband, hanging out and having meaningful conversations with friends and church family. Reading is an avid
hobby of mine and always has been. I have been dabbling more into board games and puzzles lately. I also have discovered my love of gardening and we have plans to have a big veggie garden and wildflower garden this summer! If your family has animals, I’m all for it! I have always been an animal person and hopefully one day we’ll be able to buy a small property and have the hobby farm of my dreams. If not, that’s okay, I’ll just have a small family of animals in our current or future homes.
Before going back to school for my Educational Assistant (EA) Certificate. I nannied for around 1 year, where I cared for two girls 2.5, and 1 year old full time doing various activities throughout the day. I was in charge of nap time, meals, changing of diapers/helped with newly potty trained toddler.
In June 2019 I have finished my Educational Assistant Program at KPU, which has been considered one of the best programs out there for EA's. I currently have an EA position of 4 years at a Independent school, supporting student of many needs. I had the opportunity to support students with mental health diagnosis, trauma, ADHD, learning difficulties of all degrees, as well as working with students with Autism. In my position I work with teachers and Learning Resource Teachers to adapt materials, and observe students who possibly need intervention. I work one-on-one, create materials that will be supportive for the students in various subjects, as well as creating a safe environment where the students feel open to be themselves and get the support they need and building relationships with myself and teachers.
During my time at this school I have completed a variety of extra personal development certificates including: POPARD, Webinars on adoption based trauma, Module on Learning disabilities and dyslexia, and ERASE convention on safe informed schools.
The last 8 months I have been working for a family doing before and afterschool care/drop off and pickup as well as housecleaning for the same family during school hours.
