My husband and I are looking for part time care (2-3 days a week) from May-August/September for our 15-month old son. We live in West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay on major bus route), however we are moving to a house closer to Ambleside in July (also on bus route). I am full-time stay-at-home mum, and pregnant with twins expected to arrive in September or October. As such, we are looking for someone to help us with our boy and work with us in our home 6-8hrs per day (9am-5pm).
Some of the duties may include:
- feeding, changing, bathing our son;
- playing with him at home;
- teaching our son basic skills, specifically working on his speech and language development by using baby sign language as he is a bit delayed in speech;
- taking our son on outdoor adventures to the park;
- taking our son to the West Van Community Centre for activities;
- taking our son to his Montessori Preschool in North Vancouver; and
- basic housekeeping such as tidying toys, loading and unloading dishwasher, and son’s laundry.
We seek a candidate with the following requirements:
- willing to consent to criminal record check;
- a valid BC Drivers License;
- a BC Drivers Abstract report (at our cost);
- must be comfortable driving and parking a mid-size SUV;
- patient, energetic, reliable, punctual and flexible.
- must truly enjoy spending time with children, specifically, teaching and helping our son develop skills as we incorporate the Montessori teachings in our home;
- must be comfortable with me, the mother, being in and out of the home; and
- no phones (calls, texting, social media, etc.) or TV while our son is awake - he currently naps 3 hours daily.
Our boy is a very, very cute child and he absolutely loves to cuddle! His favourite activities are being read to, playing with his toys, and going on outdoor adventures. He is also a good eater and he is only fussy/cranky if he is late for a nap or misses a nap.
