We are looking for reliable and fun after-school care for our grade 1 boy from January until the end of the school year in June. We require three consecutive days per week of care, preferable Tuesday - Thursday, 2:40 - 5:30. Duties include picking him up at school at 2:40 and walking him to our nearby house for a snack and a play. We may request care for another child of a similar age from time to time. There is also potential to continue through the summer with part-time full-day care, which would be based at our home. We expect that many of these summer care days would also include our other son, who will be five years old this summer. Responsibilities: Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the children Playtime (reading, playing games, toys, etc.) Take children to the local playgrounds, beaches, recreation centres and library Reinforcing appropriate behaviors Daytime meal preparation and feeding Light housekeeping duties Qualities & Requirements: Reliable, patient, have a sense of humour and a good communicator Enjoy playing with kids, inside and out and creatively planning new experiences Active, healthy and positive role model Child-centered individual who works collaboratively with children Drug Free, non-smoker Current certification in First Aid / CPR preferred Two character references Clean Criminal Record Check Transportation: Walking, public transit We will be accepting applications until we find the most suitable candidate - the position is not filled if this ad is still posted.
