We both work shift work, our schedules overlap every 2 weeks. We require someone part time, but that can be available on different days of the the week. This also affords the sitter lots of flexibility in their schedule. For example in March we needed 4 days of child care, and 4 overnights. In April we needed 4 days and one over night. In May we need 5 days of child care and no overnights. The days are longer because of our shift work while the overnights would be fairly straight forward as the girls sleep for a solid 12 hours most nights, allowing caretakers to likely get a good sleep.
