We are looking for someone to help out with child care and light housekeeping duties or errand running, 20h/week. Often one parent will be home and we just need the extra help, but there will be times you are alone with the children. We are looking for help between 3 and 7pm, Monday - Thursday and then 4 hours in the evening on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday (flexible and would vary). We have a 7yr-old boy, a two-yr-old boy and a 1-year old girl. Our 7-yr-old son has mobility issues, so he needs help getting into his walker and into and out of chairs. He uses a wheelchair when we are out and about. We have no pets and are non-smokers. The kids bedtimes are staggered, but getting one ready for bed starts at 5:30pm, with the last in bed around 7. Typical duties would involve taking one or two children to play outside, helping with bath/bedtime routines and dinner preparation/feeding children. Other duties might include homework help (for the 7-year old), emptying the dishwasher, changing over/folding or putting away laundry, making beds and vacuuming the floor/tidying the kitchen and living room. The ideal candidate is dependable, social and self-motivated. Physical fitness is an asset because taking the kids to the park, walking with them while they ride their bikes and helping the 7-yr-old into and out of mobility equipment is something we will need. You must also be comfortable around water and able to help if one parent is going swimming with the children (we do not have a pool but we swim regularly at neighbours' and family's houses, as well as the public pool in fall/winter). There would also be the option for extra paid hours as needed, and for possibly accompanying the family on day trips as an extra set of hands.
