We are a busy family of 6 looking for a part-time Mother's Helper. We are a very neurodiverse home that often feels like a chaotic circus but is one full of fun, play, learning and lots of love. The purpose of the role is to provide some support while one or both parents are home; an extra set of hands to help keep things running smoothly and make sure the kids' needs are met and the house isn't totally in shambles at the end of the day. This role is best suited for someone with previous childcare and housekeeping experience or a eagerness to learn and expand their skills and knowledge in those areas. The focus of the role will be primarily on housekeeping but there will be opportunity to care for the kids as well, based on what is a good fit for everyone. Each of the kids have complex behavioural needs so any childcare would either be with 1-2 of the kids at a time or alongside a parent (for example, going for an outing altogether). The kids are doing online school so are at home during the daytime and occasionally need support with their school work. Every day looks different and there's always something on the go so this role is rather dynamic and can vary depending on what's needed. For example, one day it might look like taking the kids to the park for a few hours and other days it may be doing housework for several hours while our family is out. It may sound like a whirlwind, and it can sometimes feel that way, but folks we've worked with in the past have greatly enjoyed working with our quirky, busy, and energy filled home as we have appreciated them too! Regarding hours and days we have a great deal of flexibility but generally prefer a two week rotation (M, T, F one week, W, Th, F the next week) from the hours of approximately 12pm-7:30pm. In the past we have come up with a schedule that works best for everyone and is as close to those hours as reasonably possible, generally reaching about 23hr/week. **Please only inquire about this job if you are committed to taking COVID precautions, including: masking, testing, up to date vaccinations and hand washing.
