Looking for mature, independent and energetic adult to be my daughter’s respite worker usually for afterschool care around 3pm to 6pm, My daughter: Thea, 9y o, Autism, have words but almost non verbal Responsibilities: Caring for Thea as needed, included, but not limited to: hand washing; toileting help; taking for walks (both by foot and in bike); playing in the playground (weather appropriate); changing into/out of swim wear when needed; frequent clothes changes. Change to go outside. Thea has zero danger awareness, needs to be watched every minute. Thea is not able to express what she wants to do or lead a person to the desired activity - adult would have to be able to be engaging and proactive with activities. We have room set up with Thea’s favorite equipment, mini trampoline in the basement plus many other activities. Prior experience with children would be great, but training will be available as well. The perfect candidate will be able to keep Thea engaged in activities, happy, active, safe, take her on longer walks, take her to the parks and let mom have a break. Mom will be either in the home or grandparent during the respite. Must be able to sign FSCD Record of Services Provides Form and must be able to receive e-Transfers for payments. Hours vary, but prefer someone who can make a commitment. Number of hours per week will depend upon candidate’s abilities to keep Thea busy, happy and engaged. Compensation will be discussed individually. Cell phone use is not permitted during respite sessions except emergencies or taking pictures of awesome things Thea does to share with mom.
