I have always had a passion for caring for those in need. I knew early-on in my post-secondary education that I wanted to pursue my desire to care for others. Since graduating from College, I have gained extensive experience in working with people from all different backgrounds with various health needs and from different age groups. Through various working environments, I have learned that having a kind heart, listening ears and a peaceful presence goes a long way in home care. I fully appreciate that one is opening their home and life to me - each time I am with them. I hold great respect for client's physical and emotional needs, health concerns, goals and those involved in their care/family. My favorite part about home health care, is building relationships with my clients. I love getting to know people, hearing stories and talking about what brings them joy. Whether it's playing a card game, reading a book or watching the evening news, I am always happy to simply be present! Since having my first child in 2022, I have taken a break from working, as I prioritize raising my family. These years are so precious! However, I am ready to slowly start back again and dedicate some time during the week to those needing support and companionship. I graduated as a PSW from Conestoga College in 2016 and have worked in the field until 2020 until switching to an administrative role with the Victorian Order of Nurses. I have a wide range of experience as a PSW with various settings, duties and client population. I previously worked in a memory care unit of a retirement home, I have worked as a pediatric PSW for children with complex medical needs for just over 5 years and and additionally, I worked in home care for just over 4 years (with a specific focus on palliative patients). My experience is with seniors requiring companionship/well-being checks, seniors who live alone and need help with meals, light housekeeping, going for walks...etc., clients with dementia, medication reminders, monitoring health conditions and reporting concerns if necessary, supporting clients who are bedridden, clients with life-limiting health conditions (ex. ALS) and assisting clients with all activities of daily living.

I am a mature widowed lady, who has resided in Canada since 2005 and have worked in the Healthcare field for 27 years and gained a lot of experience working with individuals who needed direct care and mostly TLC. I attended Mohawk/McMaster college for 2 years upgrading my nursing licence to Canadian standards. While attending college late 2007, I landed an employment opportunity with Rygiel Supports for Community Living in Hamilton, ON. Rygiel is an Organization that supports individuals with disabilities. Due to my caring nature and the love for people, I got very much involved and enjoyed supporting individuals with disabilities, including advocating on their behalf, booking their medical and social appointments; DARTS transportation appointments and driving them to their social and personal appointments using the company's vehicles. I attended St. Charles Adult training and obtained PSW Certification in order to acquaint myself with the rules and regulations of the Ontario province regarding caring for our geriatric community. I retired from Rygiel Supports for Community Living in 2019 and I realized how much our geriatric/elderly community is in need for help and support in their homes. In 2020, I joined the GNWT (Governemnt of Northwest Territories) as a PSW working with elderly clients. The opportunity gave me a chance to enhance my knowledge and awareness of the native aboriginal culture while focusing on clients with chronic illnesses and specializing in advanced care. With that in mind and knowing the difference I can make in their lives by providing the best care needed; I am well prepared and ready to help and assist in any way that I can. I am a widowed mature certified PSW/Personal Support Worker with a nursing experience and vast experience working with the elderly in their home and long term care facilities. I am very loving, respectful, hard working and caring. I am willing to go an extra mile to make a difference in an individual's life who needs Tender Loving Care, support in activities of daily living and some housekeeping. Willing to start work as soon as required. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I have experience working with young adults, elderly people with different types of dementia and those with different types of disabilities, including those who are palliative and those battling different types of chronic diseases.
