I am a healer, a trait that runs in my family. My maternal grandmother gathered roots and medicines to create a "grafting wax" that was highly sought after in our community for its healing properties. I am also interested in gathering healing herbs and roots. I grew up on a farm, where I worked with horses, learning to break, train, and race them. My first daughter was born with a congenital heart defect and was very fragile until she underwent heart surgery at 18 months old. This led me to leave my position managing a horse farm and take on a part-time role with the Red Cross Homemaker program in my area. I worked there until my daughter's surgery and the subsequent birth of my son. Upon deciding to return to work, I applied for a part-time position at Carveth Care Center, a family-run business serving approximately 100 residents. In this role, I was responsible for assisting with all activities of daily living and became familiar with Hoyer lifts, among other equipment. I left Carveth to pursue a Child and Youth Worker Diploma, using this education to facilitate a Hep C/HIV and Healthy Sexuality program with Indigenous Youth on PEI. After seven years in this role, I accepted a position in Northern Alberta as a Family Support Specialist Supervisor with the organization WJS Canada. I then moved to Victoria BC to manage a Children's Treatment Center before opening a residence for a young individual with multiple disabilities. He lived with me until he graduated high school and moved out to live independently with his parents, whom he was able to support. I spent many years in the Lower Mainland BC working with Indigenous communities before being offered a position in Iqaluit Nunavut to supervise at a Youth Group Home. This opportunity led to a role with a housing organization, where I served as the director of programs for a period of time. I am now back in Oshawa with my daughter and her family, offering my years of experience to anyone in need. My interests lie in population health and social justice, and I am actively involved as the President of the organization Founding Peoples Support Society in the Lower Mainland BC. I am separated and find fulfillment in my hobbies, which encompass everything mentioned above. My four children - three girls and a boy - have all grown, and I am now happily surrounded by many grandchildren in Ontario. My son and cat reside in Edmonton, while my daughter cares for a horse, allowing me to stay current on training techniques. My youngest grandson is nearing his third birthday, and I am delighted to call Oshawa home. Worked for many years as a Health Care Aid at Carveth Care Center in Gananoque Ontario for many years. While attending college (post Carveth) i worked at Lodge in PEI where my main duties was distributing medication and overseeing daily/nightly operations of the Lodge. Prior to working at CCC I was a Homemaker for Red Cross Society
