Hello, I'm Darrah Alayon . I’m from Isabel, Leyte, Philippines, and I will be 27 years old this coming August 27, 2024.
I have completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Financial Management, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program.
In the Philippines, I am a sole proprietor and own a small business. Additionally, I work as a project software developer.
The most interesting part about me is that I am an easy-going, mellow person who loves the outdoors. Hiking, camping, and any outdoor activities bring me happiness. I can't live without nature; I need to see trees and flowing waters. I'm a nature and animal lover.
I am 80% emotional, very soft-hearted, and, as people say, very kind and overprotective. I'm also a single mom. I became a mother at a very young age, and my daughter, who is now 9 years old, lives with my parents in the Philippines.
Additionally, I’m a secret chef. Cooking is my main hobby, and I love preparing anything requested. Just give me 15 to 30 minutes, and Google can help me find the ingredients!
My favorite colors are green, lime green, sky blue, and ocean blue.
I am the second eldest in my family and the breadwinner. I help support my family and motivate my siblings. Humbly speaking, I have sent two of my siblings to university. One is a nurse and caregiver, and the other has just finished his culinary studies. They are all in the Philippines, and I hope they can visit me in Canada someday.
I'm not sure what else to share, but I must tell you, I am very talkative, even if my English is a bit crazy.
Hello, I'm Darrah , a 27-year-old Filipina residing in Toronto, Canada.
To be honest, I don't have paid experience in home care, but I have actual experience as a shift caregiver for my grandpa. From 2019 to 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family members were frontliners, and as the eldest grandchild, they asked me to take care of my grandpa part-time. They trained and guided me through the process.
My grandpa had a very complicated situation. He was bedridden and couldn't breathe without his oxygen tank. Everything was hands-on, from changing diapers and clothes to checking on him every hour. This became my routine, as I also assisted my grandmother during that time.
My grandpa had dementia and kidney failure, and he required oxygen support due to lung issues caused by excessive smoking. Sadly, he passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience motivated me to continue my studies and connect them with my plans to migrate to Canada.
I studied to become a Personal Support Worker in Manila, Philippines, to enhance my knowledge in home care. I was also planning to migrate and start a new life in Canada. My family advised me to be prepared, so I seized the opportunity to study in this field.
I am willing to face new challenges and adapt my skills to new environments. Thank you so much.
