My name is Karen and I've been caring for children and families for an impressive 40 years. Over these years, I've grown my own family, ran a family business, and extended my love and dedication to a special adult with autism. I thrive off of making meaningful connections and strive to improve the quality of life for those that I care for. Encouraging those I work with to fully experience life is a passion of mine, whether it be going on special outings, tackling daily tasks together, or simply walking down the street. As a devoted and adaptable nanny, I am proud to say that I can work with children who have special needs. Regardless of their age - newborns to teenagers - each child receives the equal amount of love and attention. Yet, I find that a one-on-one environment produces the best results, allowing me to really focus on the unique needs and growth of the child. To ensure a rounded support system, I am happy to perform a variety of household duties. These include light housekeeping, errands and grocery shopping, meal preparation, children's and family laundry, bathing and dressing children, helping with homework, and adhering to special dietary rules. I have completed a High School education and am actively searching for a full-time or part-time position. My living arrangement preference is live-out, but my dedication remains the same. My availability encompasses a full week from Monday to Friday - morning to evening. I'm excited to start a new journey in my career in the coming years, with a desired start date on the 23.12.2025. In conclusion, I am looking to apply my years of experience and compassionate personality into caring for a special needs child. Your child will not only gain a dedicated caregiver but an extension to their family. I babysat for friends when I was a teenager. I have raised my own 2 boys who are now 31 and 36 while I ran our family business for 33 years. I have been caregiver to my autistic nephew for the past 3 years and would still be doing so but sadly he passed away in June. I managed, through patience, consistency and persistence to help him gain enough understanding, and confidence in himself to have small conversations with myself and others. It was the most rewarding job I have ever had. I helped him to overcome many of his fears and hurdles in the short time I spent with him. He went from almost nonverbal to somedays talking my head off. My priority was always his care and loving attention. After high school I became a licensed hairstylist/barber but have bad reactions to hair. 😌
