My name is Ashley. I have over 3 years of experience providing respite care for children with special needs (ages 0–15), along with an additional year working as an Educational Assistant in an elementary school.
I have a lot experience working with children on the autism spectrum, including those who are pre-verbal or have complex needs. Because of this I am CPR, Crisis Intervention, and SafeTalk certified. This means I feel confident supporting children in a calm and responsive way while always prioritizing their safety.
I truly love building meaningful connections with the children I work with and creating a supportive environment where they feel safe and have fun!
I would love the opportunity to connect and chat more about If we are the right fit!
I worked as an Educational Assistant for two years with young children who have special needs. My role involved working one-on-one with a grade three student with severe autism, who was pre-verbal, to help develop their communication, social, and academic skills. During this process, I became CPR certified, Parabytes Inclusive Learning certified, and Emergency Response certified.
Additionally, I have been a babysitter for various families over the course of three years, caring for children of different ages and personalities. During this time, I gained experience in managing routines, preparing meals, organizing activities, and ensuring a safe and fun environment. Whether helping with homework, planning creative playtime, or handling bedtime routines, I loved building positive relationships with the kids and their families. This experience, combined with my background in working with special needs children, has made me confident in my ability to adapt to different family dynamics and provide thoughtful, reliable care.
I am currently attending UBCO to earn my bachelor's degree in education.
