Hi there!
I will be moving to Vancouver in June of 2024 and came across you listing while I was looking at opportunities to Nanny in the city.
I am 24 years old and have my Bachelor’s of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario. I graduated with honours and had concentrations in both Indigenous studies and Child and Youth Studies (Child Development focused)
For the last two years I have been working with children in foster care making sure that their needs are met. For many of the children I work with, this included developing daily schedules, monitoring developmental milestones, bringing to medical appointments and recreational activities, as well as communicating with their natural parents about their wellbeing and progress.
Some of the children that I work with have not had a stable caregiver, therefore I take on a more involved role. This includes bringing children on outings (to the park, museum, lunch, etc), doing bedtime routines, and building life skills. I currently work with ages newborn to 23 years.
While in high school and university, I was a life guard and swim instructor, primarily focusing on swim lessons for kids 5 and under. I also did childcare for children infant to 10 years old while in high school.
I have my own vehicle and license, I also have experience installing car seats with both the seatbelt and/or anchors. I have lots of experience driving with kids and have been able to gain a lot of strategies for keeping little entertained on drives!
As an Indigenous person, we believe that children have independence from birth and that they should be encouraged and nurtured to continue developing this. This can include encouragement to explore the world on their own during outdoor time, being given age appropriate tasks during meal/snack prepping, helping to clean up, etc. I love to spend time outside in nature, as well as attending community spaces for learning opportunities.

I am available to start work in June 2024- it would be ideal if I could fly home to Ontario on June 14th for family events.
If you think I would be a good fit for your family, I am happy to answer any additional questions you may have about my experience/methodologies!
I am currently studying in a bachelor of Social Work at Laurier University in Brantford ON.
