I am looking for an experienced caregiver who'd be willing to travel with me on a road-trip from Vancouver to Los Angeles. I am a C5 quadriplegic and use a power wheelchair to get around. I need assistance in the morning and night (total around 4 hours), but you'll be paid live-in salary for the duration of the trip. Tasks: 1. 6:30AM Morning routine (takes 2-3hrs) - range of motion exercises - change condom catheter - change colostomy bag - put on clothes - transfer from bed to wheelchair using Hoyer floor lift - grooming - laundry and other tasks of physical assistance 2. 10:30PM Evening routine (takes 1 hr) - assistance with night grooming - transfer from wheelchair to bed using Hoyer floor lift - remove clothes - change leg bag to night bag - clean and sanitize day bag - empty colostomy bag if needed Apart from the hours mentioned above, you will have the entire time to yourself. You can explore the city, meet friends or just chill. While this is a job, for the right candidate, it may very well turn out to be an all expenses paid trip to California. I am planning to leave Vancouver on Jun 28 and return on Jul 10. It's a long road trip so please be sure you can handle being in car for 10+ hours a day. I'll be using my own SUV for the trip. YOU MUST MEET FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be authorized to work 30hrs a week in Canada 2. Must be authorized to enter United States, either have a visa or be a Canadian citizen 3. No alcohol or drug use during the trip, including marijuana. Smoking tobacco cigarettes is allowed 4. Criminal background check will be conducted 5. 2 references required 6. No cash payment, SIN required 7. Have experience as a caregiver GOOD TO HAVE (but not critical) 1. Valid BC driver's license 2. The live-in arrangement comprises a fully furnished, one-bedroom basement suite, equipped with a kitchen, a cozy living room with TV, internet facilities, laundry amenities, and a private bathroom. Owning a valid driver's license will be an added advantage, as you may occasionally accompany my parents for doctor appointments, supermarket trips, and church visits. Free street parking is available. Note, however, most of the driving-related tasks will be handled by me. My parents follow Catholic faith, and it’s important that their caregiver respects their religious beliefs and contributes to a harmonious living and working atmosphere.
