Maryam A.
Currently, I am a student in my early twenties, precisely 20 years of age, studying and pursuing an education in the field of Early Childhood Education. This educational journey is currently unfolding at the highly reputed Seneca College. My personal background is steeped in the vibrant culture and traditions of Somalia, providing me with a unique perspective on life which I always endeavor to share with the children I am privileged enough to interact with. My own family is quite large, counting eight siblings excluding myself, a circumstance that has undoubtedly presented its challenges along the way. Nevertheless, it has been a crucial aspect of my personal growth and has significantly shaped me into the individual I am today. Navigating the dynamics of such a big family has imparted upon me the necessity of patience, the value of responsibility, and the art of effectively connecting and communicating with youngsters of varying ages. These invaluable lessons will certainly favor me in my future career as an Early Childhood Educator. I possess an undeniable passion and love for working with children. There is a sense of fulfilment I find uniquely rewarding when I witness the gradual evolution of a child's personality and capabilities, as they grow, discover new things, learn essential skills, and inevitably inch closer to realizing their individual potentials. Beyond my academic pursuits and family engagements, I cherish and value my free time. I thoroughly relish activities such as reading riveting novels, singing melodious tunes, crafting narratives through writing, shaking a leg with dancing, and even exploring my adrenaline junkie side by skateboarding. I am fundamentally a person who thrives on acquiring new experiences, always remaining open to soaking up novel and exhilarating adventures. I strongly believe that my creativity, sparkling energy, and warm compassion are valuable traits that I bring to bear in every endeavor I undertake. However, they truly shine brightest when I am focused on encouraging, supporting, and nurturing children, inspiring them to explore their curiosity and guiding them to grow in a healthy and stimulating environment.
I worked as an English tutor for two years, helping children aged 6 to 14 from all backgrounds, including ESL learners. I planned and delivered personalized lessons focused on reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. I adapted my teaching style to each child’s needs and learning level, creating a fun and supportive environment that helped them grow more confident in their English skills.
