I have been working with children for the last 7 years now in various roles, with the most common being as a camp counsellor. Last summer I had the opportunity to work as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant. This role helped enhance my knowledge in teaching cognitive and behavioural skills. I have worked with children aged 6 months all the way up to 12 years. Throughout my years as a camp counsellor I have developed strong communication skills when it comes to children and their caregivers. I understand that every child learns differently and I made it my role to ensure games and activities are catered to meet every child's need so no child is left out. My background of sports has also been extremely useful. I believe learning through play is essential and have done different games in the past to help children learn colours and numbers. Currently I am pursuing a degree in Engineering which makes me have a strong background in math and science. I enjoy learning these subjects as well as teaching them. I find it important to see the learning style of the child first before I create a lesson plan. If my first approach at teaching is not working than I move on to a second approach. I also have some experience in teaching piano. I completed up to Grade 8 at the Royal Conservatory of Music and have a strong passion for music. Overall I love being outdoors, teaching, and working with children.
I have worked as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant in a daycare. This role allowed me to teach fundamental skills to children aged 6 months-8 years. It involved implementing various activities to help develop certain cognitive skills and enhance their knowledge and understanding. With the younger children there was more singing and reading involved whereas with the older children it was more activity based. I have worked with children for 7 years and have experience teaching piano as well. I am currently pursing a degree in environmental engineering which makes me strong in subjects like math and science.
