I'm Jake! I am passionate about educating others and watching them succeed in their scholarly pursuits! I'm completing my Master's at Carleton University and am looking to expand my teaching experience before I pursue a PhD. Program. My experiences as a student, tutor, mentor, and research assistant have given me a wide range of specialized knowledge and hands-on experience. These opportunities have placed me in a strong position to help students with any subject related to the arts and humanities. As for my interests, I have been a long-time fan of board games, TV shows, and comics, which I have successfully transitioned into my academic research and as part of my current thesis. You may have even seen me presenting on a panel about media literacy with my lab fellows at Ottawa Comiccon! Please do not hesitate to reach out with additional questions! I've worked for five years at Carleton University as an Academic Coach and Mentor and an additional two years as a teaching assisant. My work as an academic coach and mentor has provided me with experience working one on one and in small groups with new students seeking additional support as they entered post secondary education. Many of these students required additional care and consideration in comparison to the regular student body. Because of these additional needs I have ammassed a large amount of experience working with students who require alternative strategies for sucess, or who require a patient figure to help them understand difficult topics one on one. My experience has also provided me specialized training which has enhanced my ability to work with students and provide productive feedback on their progress.

I have completed an undergraduate degree with honours at Carleton University. I am currently working towards completing my Master's at Carelton by the end of this summer term as I complete my thesis research project.
