For the past 7 years, I've had the opportunity to work with students from age 4 through grade 6, helping them grow in reading, writing, math, and French. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where kids feel confident and excited to learn. I also teach early piano with music theory to piano students, having participated in "Music for Young Children" for 5 years.
One of the qualities that helps me in tutoring is having a great deal of patience. I work with your child, at their pace. No pressure, just a lot of encouragement and enthusiasm, even celebrating small successes and achievements.
I would love to help guide your child on his/her educational journey in the comfort of your own home. Please reach out and I would be happy to have a chat to discuss your child's unique situation and what you hope to achieve with tutoring!
Whether I am tutoring students in reading (specializing in readers with challenges), writing, math, or French, I use a variety of educational materials, including books and scholastic texts, to support my lessons. I continually expand my resources to provide a diverse and engaging learning experience. For younger kids, I make the lesson very hands-on, using educational games related to the subject being learned.
After each lesson, I connect with the parent(s) or caregiver to briefly go over what was learned. At the parent's discretion, I will leave a small amount of homework for the child to complete before the next tutoring session. I am happy to provide an email summary of the work covered that day and what we plan to focus on at the next session. I am always available to discuss progress at any time.

Catherine tutored my 7-year-old boy in grade 2. She worked with him for about 10 months on his reading, writing, and math skills. I often observed the tutoring lessons as they took place in my home. Catherine was skilled at engaging him in interesting lessons, and he made good progress at school. She made an effort to bring lesson materials featuring characters he loved, such as Pokemon or Sonic the Hedgehog. She always brought fun materials to help him stay focused on learning and was very encouraging of his progress. I would definitely recommend Catherine as a tutor.
I am an Italian-raised woman born in Canada. I have three adult children, all well-educated and successful, as well as a grandmother. I love to read, learn, and expand my horizons. One of my hobbies is horseback riding, as we have had horses at our home. They are relaxing and peaceful animals and friends.
I have worked with children for a long time, either as a nanny or as a tutor. I speak and write all three languages: English, French, and Italian. Teaching is fun and easy as long as you listen to the child and go with their rhythm. Pushing them is not the way to go. Making them feel safe, heard, and giving them the support, encouragement, and applause they need is the way to go.

French tutoring for the Ontario curriculum
Students in Mississauga can find tutors who can provide support with French taught under the Ontario provincial curriculum, from elementary school through Grade 11 and Grade 12.
Depending on the student's school and program, tutoring may support French Immersion, Core French, French as a Second Language or other French-language programs offered in Ontario.
A tutor can help students strengthen the skills expected in their course, including oral communication, listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing, as well as prepare for classroom assignments, tests, presentations and final exams.
For students in French Immersion, it can be especially helpful to choose a tutor who is comfortable teaching and explaining concepts in French and who understands the level of language expected in the student's grade.
How do I choose a French tutor in Mississauga?
Look for a tutor whose experience matches the student's age, French level, school program and Ontario provincial curriculum.
A student in French Immersion may need different support from someone studying French as a second language or an adult learning conversational French. For school-age students, ask whether the tutor has experience with the student's grade level and type of French program, particularly for Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses.
A good French tutor should do more than correct grammar exercises. They should help the student become more comfortable understanding, speaking, reading and writing French independently.
Before hiring, discuss the student's grade, current French level, school program, areas of difficulty and upcoming assignments, tests or exams.
