Catherine A.
For the past 7 years, I've had the opportunity to work with students from age 4 through grade 6, helping them grow in reading, writing, math, and French. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where kids feel confident and excited to learn. I also teach early piano with music theory to piano students, having participated in "Music for Young Children" for 5 years. One of the qualities that helps me in tutoring is having a great deal of patience. I work with your child, at their pace. No pressure, just a lot of encouragement and enthusiasm, even celebrating small successes and achievements. I would love to help guide your child on his/her educational journey in the comfort of your own home. Please reach out and I would be happy to have a chat to discuss your child's unique situation and what you hope to achieve with tutoring!
Whether I am tutoring students in reading (specializing in readers with challenges), writing, math, or French, I use a variety of educational materials, including books and scholastic texts, to support my lessons. I continually expand my resources to provide a diverse and engaging learning experience. For younger kids, I make the lesson very hands-on, using educational games related to the subject being learned. After each lesson, I connect with the parent(s) or caregiver to briefly go over what was learned. At the parent's discretion, I will leave a small amount of homework for the child to complete before the next tutoring session. I am happy to provide an email summary of the work covered that day and what we plan to focus on at the next session. I am always available to discuss progress at any time. Reference Catherine tutored my 7-year-old boy in grade 2. She worked with him for about 10 months on his reading, writing, and math skills. I often observed the tutoring lessons as they took place in my home. Catherine was skilled at engaging him in interesting lessons, and he made good progress at school. She made an effort to bring lesson materials featuring characters he loved, such as Pokemon or Sonic the Hedgehog. She always brought fun materials to help him stay focused on learning and was very encouraging of his progress. I would definitely recommend Catherine as a tutor.
