Amelie C.
My name is Amelie, I am a born and raised Hamiltonian. I am a fourth-year Peace and Justice major with a minor in Philosophy. I am on the law school track and I am currently studying for my LSAT and preparing for my application essays. I am extremely passionate about literacy and facilitating a love for learning in my communities. Through my academic and professional experiences, I have cultivated strong research, writing, and analytical skills that enhance my ability to support diverse learning needs. My coursework and independent studies have given me a solid foundation in critical thinking and a deep understanding of the complexities of learning. I bring valuable teaching experience, having worked as a children's dance teacher, where I witnessed the joy and creativity children bring to their endeavors. More recently, I began teaching English to immigrants at the Hamilton Public Library, an experience that has honed my communication skills and deepened my empathy. I competently speak Brazilian Portuguese and currently learning Arabic and French, enabling me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. In addition to my teaching roles, I have been actively involved in volunteer work that has strengthened my compassion and patience. From working with Hamilton's youth and houseless community at DeMazenod Farm, where I helped grow and harvest food for well-balanced meals, to supporting SACHA's women’s advocacy events, my experiences reflect a commitment to community and equity. As a Student Law Clerk at Lawyers Orme and Frankel Law, I also developed exceptional organizational and reading skills by managing legal documents and conducting in-depth research. These experiences, combined with my passion for education, position me to create an engaging, supportive, and enriching learning environment for children.
I am pursuing a major in Peace and Justice studies and a minor in Philosophy at McMaster University. I also teach English to Immigrants in collaboration with the Hamilton Public Library. Additionally, I regularly teach children dance in partnership with Mac Athletes Care. I have always found that although I am teaching, I always learn something new about the world from my students.
