Kira V.
My name is Kira, and I’m a passionate and enthusiastic educator with a strong background in working with children and youth. I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa, specializing in the Junior/Intermediate division with English as my teachable subject. Over the past nine years, I’ve worked as both a dance teacher and camp counselor, gaining valuable experience in building relationships with students, creating engaging learning experiences, and supporting diverse needs. Last summer, I had the amazing opportunity to teach English at a summer camp in Germany, where I developed meaningful connections with students from different cultural backgrounds. During my practicum placements, I worked closely with English Language Learners and gained insight into how to support language development in inclusive and equitable ways. I also have experience with Forest School programming, which has helped shape my belief in student-centered, experiential learning. I’m fully bilingual in English and French, and I’m deeply committed to creating a supportive, welcoming learning environment where every student feels seen and valued. Whether I’m helping with reading comprehension, writing skills, or just building confidence, I strive to meet each learner where they’re at and help them grow.
I’m a graduating teacher from the University of Ottawa, qualified to teach Grades 4 through 10 with a specialization in English. I completed two practicum placements: one at Glashan Public School teaching Grades 7/8 Math and Language, and another at St. Luke School teaching Grades 4–6 in Math, Language, Science, and Religion. I also taught English abroad in Germany last summer. Outside of the classroom, I’ve taught dance for nine years at Studio de Danse Footsteps and worked as a summer camp counselor for eight years. I led a weekly dance club during my practicum and have experience supporting English Language Learners and delivering outdoor learning through Forest School. I’m confident teaching Math, English, French (Core), and other junior/intermediate subjects, and I’m passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments for all students.
