I live in the Saanich area near Tuscany Village/UVic. I am English-speaking, and my ancestors are from England, Germany, Ireland, and Scotland. I have worked with seniors most of my life since my 20s as a dietary aide, pharmacy tech, and companion. I like to cook, show people around town, and drive. I looked after my mom with Dementia from 2009 to 2013 after my Dad passed away from cancer. I have raised 2 wonderful children on my own, who are now young adults. At the same time, I looked after and cooked for my parents since the early 2000s. When I had a home, I used to do all the gardening. I enjoy shopping and gardening with others or on my own. I play golf on occasion and the saxophone. I also like to sing and listen to music. I worked as a companion in seniors homes mostly but a couple lived in nursing or retirement homes. I have had private and clients from an agency. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I have a pharmacy Tech course I took 2003- 2004. I worked as a Pharmacy Tech from 2006 to 2010.

I have a background in healthcare and am passionate about helping people. I worked with several seniors in the past and loved it. I am happy to provide references. My father suffered from ALS and I know personally how hard it is to find dependable, caring, trustworthy caregivers. I approach my clients just like I would members of my own family and care for them wholeheartedly. I would love to be of service to your family. The best way to contact me is by sending me a message here. I have experience caring for the elderly with conditions ranging from Alzheimer's to ALS. I have helped with daily household tasks such as laundry, food preparation, transportation, errands, cleaning to personal hygiene and bathing. I have a background in healthcare (I am a Doctor of Pharmacy) and holistic medicine and am passionate about helping people. I especially enjoy providing companionship.

My background is household management, which I have done for 15+ years, and I am looking for work that uses my skills of taking care of people and supporting them in their lives. I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places. As my children are older they are less demanding of my time, but I do want work that is not as all-consuming as being a dedicated household manager so I am still available to volunteer at their schools and sports organizations. For the past 10+ years I have worked as a household manager, looking after families and their guests in their homes. My duties ranged from maintaining homes and properties to be ready for the family to enjoy at any time, to serving the family and their guests during their stay. Many of the family members were elderly, and I recognize the accommodations that need to be made when caring for older folks. I haven't worked with dementia or Alzheimer's patients, but I do have years of personal experience from time spent with my grandparents.

During my training as a pediatric nurse in Germany, I worked a lot with adults and the elderly. I worked in hospitals and also in outpatient care. After my training, I worked in an intensive care unit for adults for a year, from 2015 to 2023 I worked in the hospital with newborns and premature babies. I also worked temporarily on the pediatric ward with children of all ages, on gynecology and other adult wards. My tasks included medical care (administration of medication, care of venous and arterial access, tube care + nutrition, urinary catheter care, stoma care, etc.) nursing care (complete and partial personal care, slides, changing incontinence material, support during feeding, complete administration of food) my experience includes both demented and palliative care patients and paraplegics. I love taking care about people, and I am a great help around the house, I can grasp tasks very quickly, think along, remember things extremely well, am careful, clean and quick in my work. I am a very open-minded person, which makes it easy for me to come into contact with people. I can set priorities and act quickly and specifically in emergencies. I am a very funny person, can laugh at myself, admit mistakes and am grateful for any open criticism in order to improve my skills. I started learning the guitar in February, play every day and am a huge fan of all kinds of music. My biggest shortcoming, and you have to be aware of this, is that my English language skills are still patchy. I took a 6-month language course at Royal Roads University in Victoria, but I am not a native English speaker. I will work on obtaining a PCR and first aid certificate and submit this later. I am currently on a work and travel visa until the end of July 2025. As far as working hours are concerned, I am very flexible and can restructure my daily routine well. I love being outside and active, going for hikes and walks, cycling, skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking and doing yoga - so I don’t mind go Daily out for long or short walks also with pets. That's pretty much all I can say about myself for now, but I am open to any other questions and of course open to an introductory conversation. I'm a pediatric nurse examined in Germany - annual PCR courses ( no certificate available - I'll do it again in Canada), experiences with first aid for Children ( no certificate available - I'll also be going to do this) P.s.: I'll go to visit Germany for around 2 weeks for my father's 70th Birthday in Mid-November. For now, I didn't book a flight, so at the moment, the dates and everything can be negotiated. I'll be definitely there around the 16th of November. I´m looking forward to getting you know. I'm a gentle and loving caregiver that is dedicated to providing compassionate, loving, present care for children, adults and families. I truly live to care for others and it brings a great joy to my heart. I have experience caring for infants and elderly and mostly a strong passion to support others in the best way I can. I find it very meaningful to be in service to others in any way I can. I enjoy a quiet, simple life and love being in nature, doing yoga, practicing guitar and self reflection. I love cooking and baking and finding creative ways to make meals healthy and delicious. I have traveled the world extensively and have spent a lot of time in India, a country I truly love. I was a caregiver for my grandmother for 8 years until she passed. I did everything from groceries to making food, cleaning the house, taking her to appointments and tracking information during appointments. I supported her with her decline into dementia and was basically there to help with everything imaginable! I have a Community Mental Health Certificate from Camosun College and I am also a certified Yoga and Yoga Therapy teacher.
