Tameka R.
I am a 46-year-old Jamaican mother and a new Personal Support Worker, with only 4 months of working experience. However, the passion and zest I had for caregiving as a child helps me to perform my job in this new career path almost effortlessly. My experience is in long-term care homes, but I am also willing to provide home care on a one-to-one basis. I am proficient in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as showering, preparing meals, feeding clients, performing light house duties, and providing personal care. I have mostly worked with clients who have dementia, strokes, Alzheimer's, arthritis, open ulcers, and those who require dialysis. In terms of hobbies, I do not engage in typical ones. Instead, I spend most of my free time experimenting with food and reading about naturopathic medicines. I always strive to give my best and to get the job done, regardless of the challenges associated with the job itself.
