My name is Dijana (pronounced Deana). I am a healthcare worker, experienced in caring for and supporting seniors to enhance their quality of life. I enjoy working with people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures, bring a gentle and compassionate approach, while combining my skills, training and experience. Feedback from my clients and their families describes me as a kind, warm, trustworthy person with great work ethic, and detailed approach. Getting to know my clients is very important in my holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
In my recent experience as a Home Support Worker I supported a client who was recovering after a surgery at home. I provided housekeeping and laundry services, cooked delicious meals, did grocery shopping, medication application, supported her with mobility exercises, provided kind companionship and information, assisted her in paying bills, and accessing doctor's services. I worked as a Health and Recreation Aide in a Care Centre in Vancouver. I supported seniors in activities of daily living, provided assistance in feeding, mobility exercises and being a gentle companion. I also have training and experience caring for and supporting clients with dementia, and in palliative care. My other qualifications: Excellent English and communication skills (written and verbal) CPR and First Aid training Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check Canadian citizenship (originally from Bosnia) Live in Kitsilano and have experience working in the community
I have a Therapeutic Recreation Aide Diploma (specialized in Gerontology). Training in Positive Approach in caring for clients with dementia. Holistic health courses at Langara College in Vancouver including therapeutic massage.
