Jennifer D.
As a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Worker (PSW) with five years of hands-on experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge in providing high-quality care to individuals in need. I have completed my PSW education at OSilla institute in Ontario, where I also received certifications in CPI, CPR, WHMIS, Worker Health and Safety Awareness, and training in abuse prevention for long-term care settings. I am skilled at supporting individuals with diverse needs, always aiming to enhance their quality of life. My background includes a diploma in Business Administration, and I’ve developed strong communication and organizational skills through various roles in cleaning, customer service, sales, and data analysis. As a 30–year-old married woman, I value family and community, which reflects in my passion for caregiving. I thrive in roles where empathy, patience, and attention to detail are essential. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, reading about healthcare innovations, and exploring ways to improve the patient experience. I am eager to bring my skills and compassionate nature to your team and provide exceptional care to those in need."
During my training as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) I had the opportunity to work with clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as those with behavioral challenges. This experience taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and a compassionate approach to care. I worked closely with clients to assist them in their daily routines, helping with tasks like personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility, while always respecting their individual needs and preferences. I also supported clients emotionally, offering encouragement and reassurance to help them feel more at ease and confident in their abilities. When working with individuals facing behavioral challenges, I used techniques such as active listening and positive reinforcement to help manage difficult situations. My Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training gave me the skills to calmly de-escalate situations and respond to challenging behaviors in a safe, respectful manner. Overall, my experience has deepened my commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care, always focusing on maintaining the dignity and independence of the individuals I work with, regardless of their challenges.
