 Creating a welcoming classroom environment  Create lesson plans to teach students subjects, such as reading, science, and math  Identify children’s individual learning needs  Attend to children's needs while helping to foster early development  Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental, and social development  Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health  Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests  Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws and administrative regulations  Work with educational assistants to modify lessons for students needing extra help  Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs
