I am Vivian, and I am a Filipino nurse, and a proud mother of three children. My family is currently in the Philippines while I pursue professional opportunities abroad. I am writing to express my strong interest in joining a healthcare team and continuing my passion for providing compassionate, quality care, especially to the elderly.
In the Philippines, I worked in a hospital where I was assigned to various departments including the Emergency Room, Operating Room, and Outpatient Department. Through this experience, I developed strong clinical skills and a deep understanding of patient-centered care. Every day, I was hands-on in caring for patients, supporting them not only physically but emotionally, too. One of the most meaningful parts of my job was caring for elderly patients, who reminded me so much of our own elders back home.
As a Filipino, I come from a culture that holds deep respect and love for the elderly. It is our tradition to care for our aging parents and grandparents at home, with patience, dignity, and compassion. This strong cultural foundation has shaped my approach to nursing and has inspired me to continue building my career in elderly care.
To enhance my skills and better serve this population, I completed a program that focuses exclusively on elderly care. This program helps me stay up to date with the best practices in geriatric care and prepares me to meet the unique needs of older adults with even greater confidence and knowledge.
Some personal and professional attributes I bring include:
Dedication and Reliability – I take my responsibilities seriously and always strive to give my best.
Compassionate Care – I treat every patient with empathy, respect, and understanding.
Team Collaboration – I value working with others and believe in strong communication and teamwork.
Adaptability – I’m quick to learn, flexible, and open to new systems and environments.
Cultural Awareness – I understand the importance of respectful, inclusive care across different backgrounds.
It is my hope to continue my journey as a nurse in a setting where I can contribute meaningfully and grow professionally.
I am a Registered Nurse from the Philippines with five years of experience in the Emergency Room, Operating Room, and Outpatient Department. These roles have equipped me with a broad and adaptable clinical skill set, particularly in the care and management of elderly patients during hospitalization.
During my practice, I consistently provided compassionate and holistic care to older adults, ensuring their comfort, preserving their dignity, and involving them in care decisions. I monitored their physical and emotional well-being, supported mobility and nutrition, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective recovery and safe discharge planning.
As part of my professional development, I completed a placement at the Cancer and Palliative Care Unit at RVH Center in Barrie. This experience further enhanced my ability to provide empathetic, patient-centered care to individuals with complex health conditions and those in end-of-life stages. It deepened my understanding of pain management, emotional support, and the importance of family involvement in care planning.
I have completed my program and am currently seeking a full-time or part-time position in healthcare. In the meantime, I am working as a weekend caregiver at Bradgate Arms Retirement Home, where I continue to support elderly residents with their daily living needs in a respectful and compassionate manner.
