Valarie G.
I usually freeze when someone asks to describe myself because I discover new interests about myself but I will share what has always been constant factors in my life. I am a last born girl in a family of 5, 4 girls 1 boy. I have been raised in an African home, deeply rooted in spirituality and God. My parents are both Christians and I have followed in that route. Just a few years ago, my father got diagnosed with dementia and he was previously battling diabetes. This altered my whole life as I had to change so much things. I sacrificed school to be able to take care of him but now I am able to pick up where I left off. This has deeply nurtured a sense of taking care of people in need and showing compassion to people who have also had their life altered either by a disease or just the unfair side of life. I want to radiate hope and love to them in this season of their life. In addition, I have been a nanny to my 10 nephews and nieces which has helped me learn about taking care of children. I enjoy painting, swimming, hiking, site seeing, cooking, and I am yet to learn skiing. For my attributes, I have been told I am obedient. From a personal view, I can say I am kind, clean, calm, full of life, God fearing and organized. I am open to discover new things and experiences that help me in my life purpose.
I have been taking care of my father, who has dementia and diabetes, for one year.
