Julia M.
We are military family and returned home to the Ottawa region about 9 years ago which is when our kids started school. Before then I had worked, jas a senior level administrative assistant for the government for many years. Since our return to Ottawa, I have been very active in my kids, school being chair of the school parent council for five years now as well as being the Crossing Guard for the kids school for the past two years. I also worked as a lunchtime monitor in the school in 2021. My mother was diagnosed with cancer years ago, and I helped care for her in my home until she was sent to hospice. She passed away a couple of years ago. I love spending time with people and have been a caregiver for many years, though not technically trade for it any way. I would love to keep somebody company and to help them out at home with whatever they may need to help make their lives a little bit easier, happy and more comfortable. Everybody needs support, friendship, and companionship. My hobbies include going for walks, doing some light gardening, and relaxing with family and friends. We also have a family, Cottage, where we spend most of our summers with our kids.
I have raised two kids at home and have also helped care for my elderly mother, who passed away a couple of years ago of cancer. She stayed in my home for a few months before requiring more care that I could provide. I also have a father-in-law with dementia in a residence, but I visit a couple of times a week for companionship, etc. I don’t necessarily have the medical skills and training, but can certainly help run errands, keep someone company, do meal prep and tidying, run errands, go on excursions, etc. I love being with people and helping out where and how I can in a safe, nurturing environment.
I started taking some college courses in psychology and social work, but my circumstances changed, so I went directly to the workforce after that.
