As a highly dedicated internationally trained optometrist, I am presently fulfilling my role as a student in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program. As I am currently on my path to completing my practical placement at a reputable long-term care facility, my passion to make a positive impact on the lives of others is shining bright. Over-time, I take deep satisfaction and professional pride in my ability to positively impact the lives of individuals I interact with. My wide-ranging work experience has contributed to my strong capability in providing optimal assistance to numerous residents throughout their daily activities, such as eating, bathing, grooming, and other tasks essential to their everyday life. One of my significant areas of expertise is dementia care, a unique specialty where I have been trained explicitly in the Gentle Persuasive Approach, a method designed to assist healthcare professionals in managing challenging behaviors in an effective, respectful, and, most importantly, gentle manner. In addition, I have earned certifications in First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)which have made me skilled in emergency response and residents stabilization, potentially saving lives in emergency scenarios.My combined knowledge in these areas prepares me to respond quickly and effectively to any health crisis that may occur within the facility. With my strong determination, passion and unwavering dedication, I am fully prepared to make a profound impact on the lives of those under my care throughout my journey in the world of healthcare.

My responsibilities/work experience include: providing assistance to residents with activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and bathing as per residents’ individual care plans to meet their needs and expectations, providing oral and dental care, performing other duties as assigned, monitoring and reporting any changes in the client’s health or behavior to the charge nurse, providing companionship, and following care plans and instructions.
