A mother of 4, Filipina. I have a passion for taking care of elders. I am a caregiver and companion to my 82-year-old mother back home. I also have experience in a private home as a live-in caregiver for a senior who is bedridden. I assist him with taking medication, preparing meals, changing bed linens and briefs, and performing all household chores. I am First Aid/CPR certified and have knowledge in giving bed baths, changing and cleaning ostomy bags, and proper grooming. I am willing to start anytime. Live-in caregiver experienced with a man who has an ostomy bag and congestive heart failure, assisting him in dealing with angina attacks from time to time. I did the weekly cleaning and changing of his ostomy bag, inventoried TPN supplies and other medication in the medicine fridge, and received supplies from pharmacy. I helped with the administration of medication in blister packs, set up oxygen tanks, monitored oxygen levels, flushed after his TPN, provided daily light housecleaning and companionship, assisted with walking, and helped him move from bed to wheelchair and vice versa. I was also a live-in caregiver for a lovely woman with congestive heart failure. I gave her sponge baths, changed linens, helped cook Italian food, assisted with her morning grooming routine, and daily bed exercises. I made sure her daily medication was properly given, set up oxygen and monitored levels, and was a good companion.

I am currently a Practical Nursing student at Niagara College. I have completed one year of the program, including a clinical placement in long-term care where I gained experience assisting residents with personal care, feeding, taking vital signs, charting, and reporting changes to nurses. I am passionate about healthcare and enjoy supporting seniors and making a positive difference in their daily lives. I also have over two years of experience working in a retirement living environment, where I developed strong communication, teamwork, patience, and time-management skills while working closely with residents and staff. In addition, working at McDonald’s helped me strengthen my multitasking, customer service, and ability to stay calm in fast-paced environments. I am a hardworking, compassionate, and reliable person who enjoys learning and growing in healthcare. I value respect, kindness, and providing quality care to others. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, learning new things, and continuing to improve my healthcare knowledge and skills as I work toward my future nursing career. I am a mature widowed lady, who has resided in Canada since 2005 and have worked in the Healthcare field for 27 years and gained a lot of experience working with individuals who needed direct care and mostly TLC. I attended Mohawk/McMaster college for 2 years upgrading my nursing licence to Canadian standards. While attending college late 2007, I landed an employment opportunity with Rygiel Supports for Community Living in Hamilton, ON. Rygiel is an Organization that supports individuals with disabilities. Due to my caring nature and the love for people, I got very much involved and enjoyed supporting individuals with disabilities, including advocating on their behalf, booking their medical and social appointments; DARTS transportation appointments and driving them to their social and personal appointments using the company's vehicles. I attended St. Charles Adult training and obtained PSW Certification in order to acquaint myself with the rules and regulations of the Ontario province regarding caring for our geriatric community. I retired from Rygiel Supports for Community Living in 2019 and I realized how much our geriatric/elderly community is in need for help and support in their homes. In 2020, I joined the GNWT (Governemnt of Northwest Territories) as a PSW working with elderly clients. The opportunity gave me a chance to enhance my knowledge and awareness of the native aboriginal culture while focusing on clients with chronic illnesses and specializing in advanced care. With that in mind and knowing the difference I can make in their lives by providing the best care needed; I am well prepared and ready to help and assist in any way that I can. I am a widowed mature certified PSW/Personal Support Worker with a nursing experience and vast experience working with the elderly in their home and long term care facilities. I am very loving, respectful, hard working and caring. I am willing to go an extra mile to make a difference in an individual's life who needs Tender Loving Care, support in activities of daily living and some housekeeping. Willing to start work as soon as required. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I have experience working with young adults, elderly people with different types of dementia and those with different types of disabilities, including those who are palliative and those battling different types of chronic diseases.
