When life is going well, everyone wants to be around you, when circumstances change, everyone reveals their true character. When my Mom fell ill back in 2004, there was no hesitation that I would be there for her. When she passed in 2012, I felt the need to reclaim some elements of my former life but I'd changed in the interim & my previous interests were no longer interesting.
Since February 2018, I was employed by the family of a man living with Parkinsons which in many instances required round the clock care; unfortunately, he passe away January 31, 2020.
Taking care of an individual who did not choose their illness is a wonderful experience; there are days of joy & days of sadness but you work through the spectrum because one makes you appreciate the other. I have an inordinate amount of optimism tempered with realism that guides me through any endeavor & these attributes, working in conjunction with the individual & their family, we can soften the stress that serious setbacks present to an individuals well-being.
Dealing with physical impairment does not inhibit dealing with the day to day of living a balanced life. Organizational skills on multiple levels makes the engine run smoothly. Adding or subtracting one component does not upset the balance, it simply colors the challenges we experience. Here's hoping you find my philosophical yet practical approach to the everyday appealing & feel free to contact me when convenient.
