My name is Lyn, I am a passionate asian, neat, clean n organised woman. I came to Canada 19 years ago, life was hard raising my 2 boys and running a laudromat for many years. My adults boys are graduated and now have wings of their own. I have worked with a dimentia for 9 years, living in her house for 8 months before she end up in a senior home. While she was in senior home, I continue to assist her full time for the next 3. 5 years. She recently passed away in Jan 2010. My job was to assist her in all areas as well as taking her out shopping, to park for a stroll, visiting friends, having meal and music exercise with her. I am not a certified health care worker but in 2012, I nurse my dad, he was down with several strokes. First it hit him paralysing one side of his body and when he was hit with 2nd and 3rd stroke within a period of 3 weeks, Oh my god, life had changed for the entire family. Couldnt bear to send him to a nursing home, I nurse him with the help of my siblings, we took turns to look after him. Being the eldest in the family and also semi retired, I took over the chores most of the time compared to my younger siblings whose holding a professional career. We were all trained by the hospital before dad was able to be discharged. That involved all his daily needs, transferring fr bed to wheelchair, showering, medications, drainning urine bag, insulin shots, ferrying him to hospital visits n many more. Learning to look after a stroke patient is challenging, we faced several teething problems but time will take its cause. I have learnt alot from the past 3 years. Unfortunately dad passed away couple months ago. I am very sure I can do well in a caring for the sick and elderly after what I have been through compared to someone whose certified. It all goes with hands on and experience in life. What senior needed most at this stage of time is love, patience and tender care. I can speak english, mandarin, cantonese, hokkien and teochew. I had my CPR, FIRST Aid, FOOD SAFE and Driver Licence taken in Canada. I am capable of doing tube feed, bladder/bowel care/ injection, suction, physio exercise, oxygen, company to appt and household chores. If you think I am suitable to fit into your needs, drop me an email or I can be contacted by phone. I am available anytime for several shift and are willing and keen to serve the seniors. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I have worked in a Dispensary for many years hence a little knowledge with oral medicine. I am PA literate, had a Public Relation Receptionist trained certificate. I am able to cook well coz I enjoy cooking healthy meals for my family.

Hans is my neighbour whom i helped his family in 2002 when his dad was disgnosed with lung cancer. He was the only child and being only 19 and had just arrived in Canada with his parents, they were lost , they needed help in many areas, like language barrier and routes around. Since i was just 2 doors away and one day his mom came knocking on my door for help, i cant bear to turn them down as i was once new in here too. I help within my ability. I assist them to doctor appts, going chemo and radio therapy weekly, help them in grocery, morally support at this stage. Unfortunataly Hans dad passed off after 9 months. The family struggled through hard times here for many years , they went back to Korea where they came from few years ago and expected to be moving back here again this year.
