My name is Nnedimma Orji, and I am a 24-year-old student nurse. I left Nigeria in 2023 during my 4th year in the University, with hopes of completing my nursing degree as a transfer student at the University of Calgary by fall of next year. I have a strong passion for helping people, particularly the vulnerable sector, aiming to provide them with as much quality life as possible. I understand that client-based care is a nurse's priority, and I have consistently implemented this in my practice as a caregiver over the years. Home Care Access ( August 2024- present) The job required an in-home care giving rendered to an autistic 8 year old. Responsibilities include: Meal prep and light house chores Activity planning. Constant communication and offering emotional support during outbursts. Staying positive and maintaining a safe, calming environment. Assistance in toileting, dressing and hygiene Kiid Sitters ( March 2023- September, 2024): The job also required in-home care giving for kids of different background Responsibilities include: Meal prep and assistance with feeding, dressing. Managing medications Assistance with mobility. Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria (September 2018- September, 2022) This job required both in-home and hospice care. Responsibilities include: Assistance with Activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transferring to the physically and cognitively impaired. Assistance with tube feeding(NG tube and gastrostomy tube) Ensured client's comfort and support is maintained. Booking and accompanying clients to appointments etc. Evaluating and recording client's vital signs (respiration rate, Blood pressure, temperature and pulse)
