Dherlyn O.
My name is Dherlyn, I’m currently in school for Practical Nursing and I’m now in my Term 3 (out of 4) of the program. I’ve completed multiple clinical/practicum placements in senior care homes, and honestly, it’s been such an eye opening and rewarding experience for me. Coming from little to no healthcare background before starting school, I’ve learned so much about providing care. During my clinicals, I was assigned to different residents but was never limited to just them, so I was able to interact and help care for many residents throughout the unit and it gave me a broader understanding of different personalities, their conditions and routines. I’m also soon to be HCA certified through my program and continuously learning more skills as I progress through nursing school. With proper guidance, orientation, and communication, I’m confident in being able to help support your loved one’s needs while also continuing to grow my experience. A little about me outside of healthcare… I’m 25 years old and before nursing school, I worked as a Fire Extinguisher Technician for about 5 years starting in 2020. Although it was stable and paid well, I realized I was craving more growth and wanted to do something more meaningful and fulfilling, which is what led me into nursing. I’ve always been very empathetic and caring toward other people, which is honestly one of the reasons why nursing wasn’t originally something I thought I could do 😅 I tend to feel deeply for others and sometimes care a little too much LOL, but school and clinicals have really helped me learn how to balance compassion while still staying professional. I’ve also been told I’m very friendly and energetic haha. I laugh a lot (sometimes even during normal conversations because I get awkward or too comfortable ðŸ˜), but I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and making others feel comfortable around me. I used to play volleyball all the time before school took over my life LOL, but I still try to make time for it when I can. Schedule: I usually have school Monday-Friday 8am-1pm, but my availability can vary depending on clinicals, exams, or placements. Other than that, I’m generally flexible and always open to discussing schedules in advance! If you’d like to know more or think I may be a good fit for your family or loved one, feel free to message me anytime <3
