Joy K.
My name is Joy, a compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional based in Burnaby. I bring to the table two years of rich nursing experience, including time as a frontline nurse during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Trained as a Registered Nurse in South Korea, I possess proficiency in a wide range of healthcare procedures - from administering medicines to emergency care, pre and post-operative care, and more. During my tenure, I have been recognized twice as an Outstanding Nurse, a testament to my dedication to patient care. I believe in a patient-centered approach, customizing care based on individual needs. My work in an acute infectious disease ward allowed me to provide the highest level of medical care in challenging and rapidly changing situations. In addition to patient care, I have also implemented important hygiene initiatives. Tasked with monitoring hand hygiene, I empowered my coworkers to maintain proper practices, regularly compiling detailed reports, and introducing measures to enhance compliance. I am available to work full-time, ready to start immediately, and my services are available from Monday through Friday. My work schedule remains largely flexible across mornings, afternoons, and evenings. While I do not travel for work, I am open to the possibility of relocation. My extensive nursing background enables me to provide a range of services, from housekeeping and meal preparation to advanced nursing procedures like administering injections, tube feeding, and heavy patient lifting & transfer, among others. Throughout my career, I have worked with patients experiencing a varied spectrum of diagnoses including Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's disease, and many others. My aim is to bring compassionate care to individuals in their homes, retirement homes, or hospitals. Fluent in English and Korean, I am ready to obtain a police check if required. And while I don't have a car, I am a licensed driver. I am from South Korea, very comfortable working as a Caregiver/Companion, a Registered Nurse, or a Personal Support Worker. I am passionate about what I do and look forward to bringing my skills to use in my next role.
I worked as a registered nurse for two years at Medical Center in South Korea. As a nurse, I have extensive experience providing care to elderly and adult patients, including administering medications (injections and oral medications), basic nursing care, assisting with meals and mobility, pre- and post-operative care, COVID-19 patient care, and explaining treatment processes. Therefore, I am fully capable of performing all essential nursing tasks required by elderly patients.
