I am the kind of person who says hello to dogs and cats before their humans. I have been in animal rescue, fostering and petsitting for more than 15 years. It is second nature to me. There is not much regarding animals that I have not experienced from shy to nervous to bold and bossy. I don't tend to overwhem animals on first meeting and tend to ignore them letting them discover me based on their preference. This works well for most interaction as I believe scent and energy is the most important factor with cats and dogs. Once the animal is comfortable then we usually become fast friends quite quickly.
