T G.
I am the kind of person who says hello to dogs and cats before their humans. I have been in animal rescue, fostering and petsitting for more than 15 years. It is second nature to me. There is not much regarding animals that I have not experienced from shy to nervous to bold and bossy. I don't tend to overwhem animals on first meeting and tend to ignore them letting them discover me based on their preference. This works well for most interaction as I believe scent and energy is the most important factor with cats and dogs. Once the animal is comfortable then we usually become fast friends quite quickly. I prefer to care for animals that are in homes where they are part of the family and not excluded by separate quarters or a book long set of rules of behaviour. I am intuitive and easily read animals and energy and very aware of an animals distress and body language. Therefore it is difficult for me to be around unhappy, depressed animals or give perfunctory care. If your animal is not a cherished member of your family I am not the sitter for you.
Helped start an animal rescue in Northern BC. Involved in all aspects from rescue, foster, vet visits, transportation, adoption, fundraising, Board of Directors. After 10 years of fundraising we bought a 10 acre property. When I moved to Victoria I started my own petsitting business and did that for several years.
