If I were taking care of someone’s pet, I’d start by listening closely to the owner and following their routine as closely as possible, since they know their pet best. I’d take note of everything important, feeding times, walking habits, behavior cues, and make sure I stick to it (I’m very organized and always keep a to-do list, so I’m reliable with details like that). I’d approach the pet in a calm, friendly way and adjust based on their personality, whether they’re shy or more energetic. I really enjoy being around animals, and I’d make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while their owner is away.
Just to be upfront, I don’t have paid experience working with pets yet, but I’m a quick learner and very comfortable being trained on the job. I do have a lot of hands-on experience though, I’ve been around dogs and cats pretty much my whole life through friends and family. Most recently, I took care of a dog named Hazel for a family I stayed with in the U.S. We got along really well. I walked her regularly, fed her on schedule, and handled all the usual stuff like cleaning up after her on walks, not a problem for me. I didn’t personally handle bathing her, but I’d be totally open to learning that if needed. In general, I’m easygoing and happy to take on whatever’s required. I love being active, going on walks, and making sure pets are happy and comfortable. I’m also the type to look things up and learn more on my own time so I’m doing things the right way. The only thing I’d want to know in advance is if a pet has any aggressive tendencies, just so I can understand triggers and handle things properly. If it’s something predictable, I’m very open to learning how to manage it. Overall, I’m friendly, responsible, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals 🙂
