I am in my last semester of high school and was looking for some extra work to pick up in the summers. I have been rocking a part time job since last summer and a temporary one for the summer before that. I have also done plenty of per/housesitting in the past. I am between the ages of 17 and 18 to whom it may concern. offer ranges June 24th to August 20th.
i have no formal training, only actual hands on experience. I am comfortable administering oral medicine but I must be shown how and the nuances as to what the medication entails (side effects on the animal, what to watch out for). i am comfortable with pet-sitting rabbits as well as hedgehogs and potentially other small rodents. =)
i am more than happy to walk and spend time with your pet(s) on a daily or near-daily basis, to stay for an hour or two and play with them to get some energy out, and to regularly check your house for any potential dangers. This includes danger from the water boiler or during power outages as long as you show me where the shut-off/breaker box is.
my wage depends on what what you are looking for, hence the "negotiable". the following are the services I offer.
Just house-sitting - $15-$20 a day, 1-2 hours a day. MAXIMUM of 21 days.
What it entails:
- a thorough check of taps, sinks, bathrooms etc. upon entry or exit
- a check of the boiler or water heater in the basement daily.
- Bi-weekly P.O box checks or upon request
- Checks every day of front door/on-site mail slots/package delivery.
-if you leave food in your fridge, I will check the "best before" dates to ensure nothing goes moldy.
-willing to do some cleaning services for an extra charge of $10 per hour cleaned.
+ this includes laundry, vacuuming, organization etc.
-if you have a lawnmower and you are gone for a long time, upon request I am willing to mow your lawn.
+YOU must provide the lawnmower. you must also show me the ropes before you leave, set the height etc.
-more is negotiable :D
Pet Sitting - $15-20 a day depending on the pet. the smaller and the better behaved, the less expensive. MAXIMUM of 14 days. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PETS IS THREE. medical necessities may demand a small extra charge. pets must be potty or litter trained or have a pre-determined method of waste disposal. no exceptions unfortunately. Your pet must also not be aggressive towards me - we need to meet beforehand.
what it entails:
-food and water every day twice a day (obviously lol)
-(LEASHED dogs or i guess cats with a leash will work too) walks every day 2-4 times a day depending on their needs. long walks are also very much an option. if there is anywhere you want me to avoid or at any time please mention this.
- at least an hour of "quality time" spent together per day. this can include long walks, playing with toys, honestly just time petting the animal, but I am willing to spend an hour or two a day in your house just ensuring your pets are happy and do not get lonely.
-Bathing your pet (Dogs exclusively).shampoo and or soap must be provided.
-brushing your pet for fur.
-required cleanup
-regular litter changes
IMPORTANT for pets which need medicine administered to them: I AM NOT COMFORTABLE INJECTING MEDICINE. i am fine with oral medicine. the reason for this is purely that I want to acknowledge that this is something I am not in the slightest qualified to do. I do not want to risk injuring your pet if your pet has higher medical needs and I cannot guaranteeably cater to them. i would absolutely rather you find someone who has more experience than me if your pet has intense medical requirements. simple oral medication is fine by me. any life threatening conditions that would require first aid or CPR i am also not comfortable nor qualified to deal with.
Combination Pet sit + House Sit: MAXIMUM of 14 days( but negotiable depending on circumstances.)
Self explanatory. all the bells and whistles above. $25-40 per day depending on the space, pet, requirements, etc. extensive care may call for a higher rate.
Dog walker:
also self explanatory. These rates do not apply to pet/house sitting; this rate applies to hiring me as a dedicated dog walker.
15 minute walk:
$10 plus
$2 per additional pet - up to 4 small leashed pets or 2 big leashed pets at a time
30 minute walk:
$20 plus
$2.50 per additional pet - up to 4 small leashed pets or 2 big leashed pets at a time
45 minute+ walk:
$30 plus $5 dollars/additional 5 minutes
$3.00 per additional pet - up to 4 small leashed pets or 2 big leashed pets at a time
emergency check up:
$20.00 plus $15/hour spent dealing with the issue (excluding the first hour).
why? gas is expensive. being on call is also expensive. this check up includes house sitting and pet sitting. "emergency check up" time will not result in you being billed for pet or house sitting as an extra hour - it is its own separate charge.
IMPORTANT FAQs PLEASE READ IF INTERESTED
"why do you have a limit of 2 big leashed pets at a time?"
I may be 5 foot 9, but bigger dogs can still absolutely pull me away at their will if they work together.
i don't feel comfortable controlling more than two bigger dogs at a time. this does not necessarily mean that if you have more dogs, you could not pay the service fee a second time for those pets. just 4 small - 2 big at a time =)
"why does your price go up after 45 minutes?"
45 minutes is a very long walk for four dogs. it is also a very long walk for me. I am willing to go longer for a slight price increase. I doubt this option will garner much demand anyways.
"what dates and times are you available?"
contact me. most Saturdays, I am free. this summer, I will likely be free almost every day besides my main job. I will always have time to stop by. in short, it depends.
"what is your policy for cancellations slash deposits etcetera?"
for house sitting and pet sitting a 50% upfront deposit is required. if you cancel, you will get it back unless I am midway through the service or some other phenomenon. I accept E transfer but not cash - every transaction we have must be on record. upon completion, i require the other 50% (obviously lol) in addition to any extra charges accrued as outlined above. if you cancel when I am mid way through our agreed upon time frame, you will lose your deposit. if you refuse to pay, you will lose your deposit. for this reason, I also require a phone number and email.
"What materials do you need for pet sitting?"
enough food for the duration you are gone, plus some extra OR. willing to send money for pet food (will provide receipt) if the amount provided is inadequate. puppy pads if your pet is not quite potty trained (rabbit and rodent owners, i'm looking at you guys =D ). anything else you think I could ever possibly need to care for your pet.
I have petsat for a few animals, mostly cats, rabbits, and a dog or two. I have also house-sat multiple times.
