I'm Megan, a 36-year-old in Lansdowne, Richmond, BC. Due to health, my career has alternated in part-time work mainly between childcare and dog care. I grew up here in BC, and up until recently, I’ve always had atleast one if not two dogs in my life. Growing up I also owned many hamsters and am comfortable with several types of small animals. With my very open/flexible schedule I search for gig/part time work. I learned about dog-handling and dog temperament strategies while working at The BarkPark Dog Daycare, Langley (2012-2014), under the guidance of my boss who spent 30years with the SPCA. My duties encompassed overseeing 15-20 dogs, playing, walking, cleaning, and occasionally handling computer data entries and payments. I also worked with Delta TailWaggers in Ladner, BC, attending to 3-15 dogs in a farm setting through Summer & Fall of 2023. Providing either home-style or traditional kennel boarding, I treated these dogs like my own, offering affection and attention, and seeing to all needs while under my care. Feeding, giving medication, adapting to their social or special needs and working around different doggy personalities were all apart of my experience with that job. I worked for a total of 3 years in two different dog daycare and boarding businesses. I cared for numerous varieties of different breeds and ages for multiple hours at a time. For boarding, I managed multiples of dogs in all their needs from day time to overnight, including/not limited to: walking, feeding, playing, cleaning up after, giving of medications and any special needs of elderly dogs.

I don’t have any school/professional training in pet care, only hands on experience and guidance from a boss who had a 30 year career with the SPCA in animal cruelty. I don’t have a pet first aid certification but as a dog owner my entire life I’ve always made sure to know the basics in case of emergency.
