Zhoné R.
I proudly introduce myself as a caregiver, woven from a rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds. My origins can be traced to two unique and fascinating countries. On one hand, there's my mother who hails from the beautiful island of St. Lucia, known for its vibrant culture and stunning landscapes. On the other side, my father, a native of the culturally rich and diverse Guyana. Though my roots are spread across these distinct regions, I was born and raised amidst the bustling concrete jungle of New York City. I consider this multicultural heritage as a strength that enriches my worldview and fuels my passion for caregiving. I come from a warm, close-knit family comprised of four siblings, and growing up with them has taught me invaluable life lessons about bonding, patience, and the importance of having a strong support system. This family setting has nurtured me to be who I am today, both in my personal and professional life, by instilling key values and practices. When it comes to my personal interests and hobbies, a myriad of things captures my attention. Being a caregiver isn't just a profession or duty for me, it’s a passion rooted deep within. Specifically, I love to create a spectrum of interesting and engaging activities, designed to not only entertain but also educate children. Beyond this, my wide-ranging culinary curiosities have led me to explore numerous cuisines from around the world, taking pleasure in discovering new flavours and learning about different cultures. I also appreciate the art of yoga and practice it regularly to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. In relation to my professional attributes, I believe several key qualities will make me a valuable asset to any employer seeking a truly dedicated caregiver. I have developed (over the years) a deep understanding of the importance of patience — essential when dealing with the unpredictability associated with caring for others. I am a strong advocate for empathy, which helps me connect more authentically with those under my care, understanding their unique needs and behaviors. Additionally, my robust communication skills help to create a transparent and healthy environment with both the individuals and their families. To top it all, my nurturing nature extends beyond my work setting, as I am someone who truly finds joy in helping others grow and thrive. In all, I sincerely believe that these personal and professional attributes of mine will strike a chord with potential employers on the search for a dedicated, caring, and understanding caregiver.
