I have always loved animals and feel genuinely at ease in their presence. I am an avid hiker and outdoors person, and I truly enjoy being active outside with dogs — whether that’s structured walks, trail time, or steady daily routines that keep them balanced and happy. I bring a calm, responsible approach to animal care and take pride in being attentive, consistent, and trustworthy. I value building strong, respectful bonds with the animals in my care and pay close attention to their body language, energy, and individual personalities. Understanding behaviour — including stress signals, pack dynamics, and temperament differences — is something I take seriously and approach with patience and confidence. For me, caring for animals is not just a task; it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I aim to provide dependable, thoughtful care that supports both the physical and emotional well-being of every dog or cat I work with. For your personal comfort, I also have a recent vulnerable sector police background check. I have extensive experience working with dogs in both structured and family settings. In Hawaii, I trained hunting dogs to work off leash and remain responsive and contained as a pack. In Edmonton, I have provided regular dog walking for five years as part of a long-term nanny position, ensuring consistency, exercise, and safe handling. I have also owned dogs and cats for many years and understand the responsibility and attentiveness required for daily care. I am comfortable administering medications, including injections, and am confident working with dogs of different temperaments and energy levels.

I’m Jake! I’m 31, originally from the sleepy ski town of field BC nestled in the cozy, beautiful and world renowned Yoho national park. I’ve just returned from working and travelling in Guatemala for the last 9 months and now looking for a work opportunity! Throughout the last 18 years, working and traveling abroad I have done a plethora of jobs and duties within the hospitality industry, hostel management as well as working in NZ/ AUS, as a live out nanny ( as well as many other jobs) I've worked in kitchens/ bars/ family homes in a few different countries and in many different capacities, I have built a lifestyle born out of my desire for travel and my love of people, culture and giving back( as clichè as that sounds, it is true ) give me an in person interview and I’m certain you will be happy to have met me 🙂 I’ve worked in lots of shelters over the years and countries, animals generally take to me very well, I’m a kind and easy going soul and animals are usually better at picking up on that than humans. My most recent stint was in Guatemala at a dog sanctuary and rescue in a small aboriginal town on the banks of lake àtitlan, I was there for 3 months. Our large family has always owned animals. I just returned a month ago. My name is Jake, I’m 31 years old and one quick call to my lovely mother will confirm all of this 😁

I just recently took care of a dog at my home 24/7. That required a lot of attention. She's still a puppy. She's just turned 7 months old. I have and a lot. She was not very well housebroken when I got her by the time she left her. Shoes well house broken. She loved to go out for walks playing Outside. I would bring her to the dog park where she would run around and interact with other dogs. And she was very well-behaved with the other dogs as well. Loved and have all the attention that they require I just recently have boarded a dog for the last 2 and a 1/2 months. While the mum was out of town on personal business, she's returned and the dog has been reunited with his human mom and everything is great. I love dogs especially. I enjoy taking them for a while.Walks, I enjoy talking to them.I enjoy grooming them and making sure that they're well nourished and loved while in my care. I am new to Edmonton, so I'm trying to find work that is in my comfort zone I am currently enrolled in Reeves. College to take the veterinarian's assistant program starting August 18th I always wanted to be a veterinarian cause I have a passion for loving animals that are. I'm just like humans. I feel like having a pet in your home is like having your own child and you would need to look after your child and you would need to look after your child as best as you can. And I consider my pets to be my children where I used to come from.

I grew up living on a farm, where I gained hands-on experience caring for a wide range of animals every day. From house pets like cats and dogs to larger outdoor animals, I learned the importance of responsibility, patience, and consistency. My daily routine often included feeding, grooming, cleaning, and making sure all animals were healthy and safe. This experience taught me how to handle different temperaments, stay organized, and respond quickly when challenges came up. Lived on a farm with daily responsibilities caring for animals. Experience with both house pets (cats, dogs) and outdoor animals. Fed and provided fresh water for animals on a routine schedule. Groomed and cleaned animals as needed. Maintained clean living spaces and stalls. Monitored animal health and behavior, noticing changes quickly. Assisted with basic training and handling of different animals. Developed responsibility, patience, and problem-solving skills through daily care. I don't have any certificates but I love animals and would be willing to get some if needed!

I’m a 23-year-old active individual and Occupational Therapy student who loves staying busy and being outdoors. I’m a regular gym-goer, so I have the energy and reliability to keep up with dogs of all sizes and activity levels. I’ve grown up around a wide range of animals—including horses, goats, pigs, dogs, and cats—so I’m very comfortable handling different temperaments and needs. I understand the importance of patience, consistency, and safety when caring for animals. I’m currently looking to explore Edmonton more, and I’d love to do that while helping keep your pets happy, active, and well cared for. Whether it’s long walks, quick check-ins, or playtime, I’m dependable and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. - I pet sat horses, dogs, cats, birds, fish, goats, miniature ponies, alpacas, pigs and chickens. - I had to clean, feed, groom, walk and play with pets. - I’ve also owned my own dogs (one with behavioural issues) and my own cats and chickens - I can handle any size of animal and any that have behavioural issues - I’ve cared for senior dogs as well (I have one back home with my mom) - I’ve owned and worked with dogs from German Shepard, boxer, pitbull, border collie, chihuahua, Pomerania, cane corso, mastiff, and much more.

I’m a gentle, reliable animal lover with a naturally calm presence — someone who connects easily with pets of all temperaments. My background includes several years working as a veterinary technician, offering dog walking and in-home pet care, and additional hands-on experience caring for cats, dogs, small mammals, and even a few tortoises. This foundation gives me a strong understanding of animal behavior, safety, emotional needs, and the subtle cues that help us support them well. My approach is grounded, heart-centered, and respectful. I don’t force interactions or push animals past their comfort zones — instead, I give them space, choice, and steady encouragement so trust can build naturally. I’ve spent years observing animals deeply through practice, research, and even through the spiritual/personal connection themes explored in my former podcast. All of this helps me meet each pet where they are, with empathy, patience, and an attuned awareness of their unique personalities. I enjoy quiet walks, slow moments, and time outdoors — and many animals respond beautifully to that energy. Whether I’m providing drop-in visits, gentle playtime, companionship, dog walking, or simply creating a calm environment for a sensitive pet, I show up with real care, reliability, and presence. I understand how important routines, clear communication, and safety are for both animals and pet parents. You can feel confident knowing your pets are cared for by someone who truly loves them, respects their boundaries, and brings both experience and heart to every visit. Rates Pet Sitting: • 30–60 minutes —> $20–$30 per visit, depending on location and care needs Dog Walking: • 30 minutes — $18–$25 • 60 minutes — $25–$35 Rates can vary based on travel distance, number of pets, and specific care requirements. My experience with animals blends formal training, hands-on work, and a deep intuitive understanding of their emotional and physical needs. I’m a former Animal Health Technologist and have supported countless pets — mostly dogs and cats — through medical care, gentle handling, daily routines, and emotional regulation in clinic settings. For five years, I offered dog walking and in-home pet care, where I took time to connect with each animal’s unique energy, preferences, and comfort level. I’ve also cared for bunnies and tortoises, though my greatest connection and experience are with cats and dogs. In addition to my hands-on work, I co-hosted an educational pet care podcast focused on well-being, safety, nutrition, behavior, and the emotional/spiritual connection between humans and their animals. This experience strengthened my ability to read subtle cues, anticipate needs, and support pets holistically. I bring patience, compassion, clear communication, and a grounded presence — especially helpful for sensitive or anxious pets who need someone calm and trustworthy. Graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at NAIT (now called Veterinary Technology) which offers training in animal behaviour, animal health, animal handling, among other foundations of animal care.
