I consider myself a very active person who enjoys staying busy and doing sports. I like maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle, which includes waking up early and trying to get enough rest every night. One of my biggest hobbies is exercising and staying active, as I truly enjoy being in movement and taking care of my health. I am also an English teacher and I have a technical degree in Translation, which has helped me develop strong communication skills, responsibility, and attention to detail. I enjoy continuing to improve my English while living in Canada and learning from new experiences every day. In my free time, I like spending quality time with my sister here in Vancouver, since I am currently living with her during my Working Holiday experience. I am originally from Chile, I am 30 years old, and I consider myself a responsible, motivated, friendly, and positive person who enjoys learning new things and adapting to new environments. In addition to my experience caring for animals, I am also the owner of two dogs and three cats. I have loved animals since I was very young and I consider myself a true animal lover. I care deeply about their well-being and always treat them with patience, kindness, and respect, as if they were part of my family. I am responsible, attentive, and committed to providing animals with a safe, loving, and comfortable environment. I understand the importance of routines, feeding schedules, hygiene, exercise, and giving pets emotional attention and affection. I am comfortable caring for different personalities and needs, including shy or picky pets. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and making sure they feel calm, cared for, and happy while under my supervision.

Pet care in Burnaby - Viktoriia M.
Burnaby, BC  • 2 km away
My name is Viktoriia. I’m from Ukraine, from Kyiv. My daughter and I rescued a dog from the street and had her operated on. She lived with us for over 10 years. When the war started, she was already old and and traveled with us around Europe. But, unfortunately, she is already gone to the rainbow… We miss her very much… And now I really need help – a job. And I want to give my love and care to our furry friends… I bring a compassionate and reliable approach to pet care. Despite my lack of formal working experience, I am a 60-year-old woman who is available to care for pets on various days and times throughout the week in Burnaby. I am a non-smoker with the ability to swim well and have experience caring for children. I am open to drop-in visits, dog walking, house sitting, boarding, and doggy day care, with a focus on providing oral medication, special needs care, daily exercise, and grooming for cats, dogs, and fish. My language skills in English, Russian, and Ukrainian allow for clear communication with pet owners, and I am willing to obtain a police check as needed.

I'm in my 30s, living in Canada, and speak Spanish and English - plus some French! I'm a trustworthy, organized, dedicated animal lover who will care for your pets and home as if they were mine. I've had the paw-fect experience caring for furry friends and homes, and I'd love to do the same for you 😊 I was raised in a nurturing environment surrounded by dogs, cats, and birds, thanks to my mom's compassionate habit of rescuing animals in need. This upbringing provided me with a solid understanding of the needs and care of various pets from an early age. After adopting my pets—Alana over seven years ago and Eli two years later—I regularly care for them, ensuring they receive consistent love and attention. I have gained valuable experience in chronic disease management while caring for my younger dog, Eli, who overcame a severe blood infection. This involved hospitalizations, blood transfusions, daily medication administration, and frequent vet visits. I successfully navigated the challenges of Eli's first year, demonstrating my dedication and commitment to pet health and well-being. I hope we can connect and meet your beloved pets! I'm excited to share my love for animals with your furry (or feathered) family members, ensuring they receive the care and affection they deserve! PS: About my dogs, I should clarify, they live with their dad and they don't join me on pet-sitting gigs.

Calm and observant, I'm ready to show your pets the care, attention and leadership they need! After 20 years in communications and nonprofit administration, I'm currently reorienting my career. I want to be more directly of service to individual people and spend less time on computer. Handily, I have a lot of skills that transfer to being a reliable pet sitter. For example, because client service and liaising with partners and volunteers figured prominently in most of the positions I’ve held, I have strong interpersonal skills. I thrive on building open, productive communication lines that foster genuinely supportive and productive relationships. I'm also an ethically-driven person because that's what feels good to me. Someone recently told me something that was rewarding for me to hear as it reflected one of my core values — truthfulness/integrity! She said I was the only person she knew who actually ‘walked my talk’, living in line with the values I espouse. Other core values that I believe suit the animal care service field are compassion and respect. Two things that are essentially important to me. Finally, some other attributes to know about me are that I am a fit and physically active person who loves cycling, gardening, being outdoors, animals (pets and wildlife included), cooking, art, music and good conversation (or peaceful silence is good too). I have travelled a fair bit and am fascinated by other cultures. I love to learn. Hope to meet & your furry one soon! Calm and observant, I'm ready to show your pets the care, attention and leadership they need. Having personally parented several cats, including one who lived to age 18 (and needed insulin injections his last few years), and shared 16 ½ years of companionship with an ultra energetic and reactive canine buddy*, my animal experience is quite all-encompassing. (*Please see my dog experience details below.) Through some friends who live in a remote part of BC, I’ve even helped teach a rescued Canada Goose to fly (via bicycle!) and assisted in building an enclosure for and entertained a rescued raven. I’ve also done several house sits that included pets, and I can share the link to my profile on a respected house sitting platform so you can view my excellent reviews. On the homestead side of things, I’m very quiet, feel best keeping things tidy in a home, and have absolute respect for peoples property as we all work hard in life for what we have. I'm fit, with lots of energy, and don’t mind getting dirty so am open to yard/outdoor work. DOG EXPERIENCE DETAILS Two and a half years ago, I said goodbye to my canine adventure companion of 16 1/2 years, Grace. A Shiba mutt I adopted when living in Japan, Grace was a forest creature at heart, and particularly so after we moved to British Columbia. It was so inspiring to see how much she enjoyed her senses in nature! Of course her sharp instincts and above-average default energy level did, at moments, pose challenges. Particularly when she was younger! Shooting her arrow into my heart via an adorable portrait on a shelter's website, G-dog (one of her many nicknames) was 9 months old when she arrived into my life. As a first-time dog parent, her abundance of energy coupled with reactivity typical of rescues posed a learning curve! But, with a journalism background, I'm a determined researcher/applier of knowledge and found solutions specifically suited to her personality and particular trauma issues. Same was the case with her health, in her latter years. Losing her was super difficult and I'm not ready for another companion but have tons of affection and/or respect (not all creatures love to be hugged!) to give to yours. This includes reactive doggies, ones who are in training and need a sitter to be consistent with that, and seniors with special diets and medications too! If you have any questions, please feel no hesitation in reaching out – I am a completely open book.

I am open to working with a variety of pets, including cats, dogs, birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, exotic animals, and more. I am seeking opportunities for drop-in visits, dog walking, house sitting, and transportation services. I am comfortable administering oral medication, caring for senior or special needs animals, providing exercise for high-energy pets, and grooming tasks such as brushing teeth and fur. I did a number of house/pet sits in England and Europe in exchange for accommodation. In Vancouver, my roommate and I shared responsibility in caring for Lucky, her Maltese.

I love dogs and cats. In Japan, I had a small dog. I took him for walks every day, and on weekends we often went to large parks, rivers, and beaches surrounded by nature. I've seen many people walking their dogs in Canada, and I feel it's an even more dog-friendly and welcoming environment than in Japan. I signed up because I’d love to spend time with dogs here as well. In Japan, I had a small dog who is now 7 years old. For two years, I also lived with a cat, so I’m very comfortable being around animals and I really love them.

I’m a 26-year-old with a very gentle and caring heart, especially when it comes to animals. Being around pets truly makes me happy — I love their innocence, their different personalities, and the way they trust you when they feel safe. I’m naturally calm, patient, and affectionate. Animals tend to feel comfortable around me because I respect their space and let them approach me at their own pace. I believe every pet deserves kindness, softness, and understanding — not just basic care. I pay close attention to the little things: how they eat, how they move, their mood changes, and their routines. I know that when pet parents are away, what matters most is knowing their furry family member feels loved and secure. For me, pet sitting isn’t just a job — it’s something I do with genuine warmth and responsibility. I treat every animal as if they were part of my own family 🤍🐾 I have experience caring for both rabbits and dogs, and I understand that each species requires very different types of care, attention, and handling. With rabbits, I’m familiar with their sensitive nature and the importance of a calm, quiet environment. I have cared for bunnies by maintaining clean living spaces, monitoring their eating habits (especially hay intake), refreshing water regularly, and paying close attention to any changes in behavior or digestion. I understand how delicate their health can be and how important it is to observe them carefully. With dogs, I have provided daily walks, feeding according to specific instructions, playtime, and companionship. I’ve cared for both energetic dogs who need structured activity and calmer dogs who prefer gentle walks and quiet company. I always prioritize safety, routine, and positive interaction. In every case, I follow the owner’s instructions closely and provide updates with photos so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away.

I'm Arlene, a 53-year-old animal-loving professional from New Westminster. After growing up surrounded by a multitude of animals, my passion for caring for them has never left me. Despite working for a decade with infants and toddlers - skills that have only been enhanced by the experience of becoming a parent - my desire to work with pets has brought me to pet care. I have a year's experience in pet care but my life-long interest has allowed me to understand the varied nutritional, training, and general care needs of animals. You can trust me with any species, be it dogs, cats, birds, or fish. I’m also comfortable with different tasks, such as looking after senior or special needs animals, implementing exercise for high-energy animals, and brushing or administering medication. My services are flexible and can include anything from short drop-in visits for feeding and playing, to taking your pet for walks, providing transportation, or even house-sitting. I am fortunate enough to have my own car which I can use for work, making it easy to meet your pets' needs. Moreover, except for swimming, I'm fully equipped to ensure your pet has the best care possible, hahaha. Unfortunately, pets are not permitted to live in my own apartment. Despite my enriched career working with children, I’m ready to apply my nurtured patience and understanding of unique needs to taking the best possible care of your pet. I am available around the clock throughout the week, so I can make sure your pet is looked after at your convenience, day or night. Finally, I can converse fluently in English, making communication seamless. I am willing and excited to start caring for your beloved pet immediately. The companionship and joy they bring to my life is irreplaceable. I am committed to providing the best possible care while ensuring their unique needs are met. Pet sat one dog and two cats for my neighbor for two weeks while they were on vacation in the Summer of 2018 Dog sit once a week for four to eight hours Oct 2024 to present.
