Hardee A.
I began working at 15 while in high school in the Philippines, starting as a busboy and dishwasher at a local restaurant, eventually handling the cash register. During college, I worked full-time mornings and studied business management in the evenings, gaining experience at fast-food chains like Wendy's, McDonald's, and KFC. I progressed from busboy and dishwasher to cashier and supervisor, known for being friendly yet professional and strict about job and company goals. In 2015, I moved to Canada for permanent residency, arriving in Halifax during a snowstorm. Despite the culture shock and initial challenges, I secured a cashier position at KFC within a week and worked there for two years. Seeking growth, I transitioned to a 4-star hotel in downtown Halifax in 2017, starting in housekeeping and progressing to a front desk assistant. I thrived in this role, learning from colleagues and guests. The COVID-19 pandemic led to my layoff, and I spent nearly three years doing part-time cleaning jobs. In May 2023, I embraced a new challenge as a bus driver, a role I find rewarding. My hobbies are running, swimming and video editing.
Since arriving in Nova Scotia in 2017, I've primarily worked in housekeeping and sanitation. My first job was in sanitation at Fisherman's Market in Bedford. During COVID, I worked in hospital sanitation and later as a housekeeping attendant in hotels, maintaining facility cleanliness.
