Galajo B.
I came to Canada in 2011 and have been here for about 15 years now. I’m originally from Saskatchewan, where I got two years of care experience after high school, and I really loved doing that kind of work. I’ve always had a passion for helping people, especially elderly people, disabled kids, and anyone who needs extra support. I’m a kind, caring, and big-hearted person who likes making people feel comfortable and cared for. Family means a lot to me, and I always try to be there for the people I love. Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer and I’m a huge Lionel Messi fan. I also like poetry and love reading mystery books when I have free time. I’m hardworking, reliable, and always open to learning new things. Helping others is a big part of who I am. ~Also in my profile experience -I have experience working in group homes and helping people with different physical and mental health needs. I helped residents with everyday tasks like bathing, getting dressed, using the washroom, and staying clean. I also cared for residents who wet the bed by changing their clothes and bedding in a respectful way. I prepared meals and helped people who needed support with eating and drinking. For those who had trouble chewing or swallowing, I made sure their food was soft, pureed, or prepared safely for them. I watched for allergic reactions or other health issues and acted quickly when needed. I also helped with medications when required and followed the proper steps. I supported residents with mental health challenges by being patient, calm, and understanding. I built good relationships with residents so they felt comfortable and cared for. I helped move residents safely from beds to wheelchairs and used power lifts or Hoyer lifts when needed. I also helped keep the home clean and safe by doing laundry, housekeeping, and supervision. I always worked well with other staff members to make sure residents received the best care possible.
