Part-Time Driver / Nanny (After-School Transport)
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Driver/Nanny to transport an 11-year-old boy and his mother from their home in Burnaby to New Westminster for lessons once or twice a week after school. The ideal candidate should have their own insured vehicle in good condition and be gentle and understanding, especially since the child’s English proficiency is still developing. Responsibilities - Pick up the child and mother from home after school and drive them to lessons in New Westminster. - Wait until the lesson concludes, then drive them home safely. - Drive carefully and smoothly to ensure a comfortable ride and minimize motion sickness. - Drive safely and follow all traffic laws. - Engage with the child in a friendly, patient manner during travel. - Communicate promptly with parents about timing, delays, or schedule changes. - Keep the vehicle clean and in good working condition. Requirements/Qualifications - Valid Canadian driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent) - Own an insured, safe, well-maintained vehicle - Clean driving record - Experience transporting passengers, ideally children - Responsible, punctual, and dependable - Friendly and patient; able to speak kindly and clearly with non-native English speakers - Willingness to wait during lessons or assist with minor errands if needed Work Schedule - Once or twice per week after school (pickup around 3:30–4:00 PM, return around 7:00 PM) - Schedule confirmed in advance; lesson days may vary - Some flexibility appreciated Location Transport route: Round trip from Burnaby to New Westminster and back Compensation - Minimum $60 per trip, plus mileage reimbursement at the CRA rate (~$0.70/km) - Paid weekly Additional Terms - Vehicle must be insured for passenger transport - Valid driver’s license must be carried at all times - References required - Background (police) check may be requested - A short trial ride will be arranged before finalizing the contract to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for the child.
